When Is It Cheapest to Fly to Mexico? A Month-by-Month Price Calendar
Mexico is warm all year — but the prices are not. The same room can cost half as much in one month as in another. Here is the calendar that matters for a family trip.
Cheapest months: September and October. These are the green-season months: the lowest prices of the year, but also the rainiest weeks and the peak of hurricane season. A week at Riu Guanacaste in mid-September runs about C$3,465 for a family of 4 — the cheapest week we found.
Best value month: May. Prices are nearly as low as September (a week at Riu Guanacaste in mid-May is about C$3,800), but the weather is much drier. For most families, May is the sweet spot.
Good months: June, July, August. Summer prices sit in the middle — higher than green season, lower than winter. Great for families tied to school holidays.
Most expensive months: December through April. Peak winter season, especially Christmas, New Year, and February school breaks. The same week that costs C$3,790 in late October can run to about C$7,400 in mid-February — roughly double.
The rule of thumb: if you can travel outside school holidays, travel in May or September–October and save 30–40%. If you must travel in winter, book early and watch the price — sales in late November (Black Friday) and Boxing Day are your best shot at a lower rate.
Prices from riu.com checks of October 23, 2026 (RIU Class rate, taxes included, 7 nights, family of 4). Prices change — always check the current rate before booking.
